Today we are bombarded with advertisements for the latest packed cereal and must-have desserts. We drive to the local takeaway joint and purchase fast food as though it was the natural thing to do. We’ve processed breads and packed cereals for breakfast, artificial flavours and additives for lunch, and frozen foods for dinner full of salt and sugar. And we’ve become conditioned to believe that this is healthy.
Next time you visit your grocery store, stop and consider the layout. 90 percent of the meals available in the aisles is processed – in cans, packets, jars, boxes. As few as 10 percent is fresh REAL food like fruit and vegetables. When did eating become a science experiment filled with chemicals you can not even recognise, let alone pronounce? Of course the rate of cancer is increasing at an alarming rate. Truth is we do not exactly understand what the main causes are, that we will likely learn in the next ten years. But what we can do now is make the best food choices possible.
By keeping an alkaline body we’re halfway towards good health and longevity. In the 1980s, dieticians determined that fat was evil as well as the notorious diet assortment of products was born. Diet yogurt, diet soft drinks and various products carrying the “diet” or “mild” label. You’ll fall into acidity under 7.0 if you’re eating too much animal meat, dairy, processed foods, sugars, alcohol and coffee and even when you’re experiencing high life stress and releasing a lot of the stress hormone cortisol in your body.
