Knowing how to alleviate stress at work is much more than choosing the ideal stress management techniques – a lot comes down to your own mental toughness. Do people have a tendency to push your’hot buttons’, leaving you feeling frustrated and extreme? Do the mannerisms of your customers’, or their poor communication skills annoy you? Do rough or abrupt customers make you feel stressed and uptight?


Then you will need to get mentally tough! Mental toughness is a vital stress relief skill needed for becoming resilient to the pressures and pressures in life and work. Just feeling frustrated, uptight or angry because of what someone has said or done will cause tension and stress on your body. In this physical condition, you can feel easily exhausted, emotionally sensitive, and your body becomes more prone to strains, spasms and pain.

There is, however, a more favorable impact created when altering how you react to potentially stressful situations. You might not realise it, but the manner in which you respond to the people you work or do with, is creating the tension and stress in your body. Stress doesn’t occur to you – it occurs because of you. You may be unwittingly raising the stress in your life. So, what can you do about it? Change what you concentrate on. Toughen your head by disciplining it to focus on solutions instead of problems. An undisciplined dwells on issues and churns over those negative aspects of people who bother you. This merely creates more tension in your body.

Focus your mind on the insignificance of your problems when you consider that over 150,000 people have lost their lives, and millions are left homeless. Worry less about people’s bad moods, inadequate communication and outbursts. Get the message and get on with it. You don’t want the stress. For the remainder of your days, there’ll be people who say things you do not like, will disagree with you opinion and disapprove of your options.
