As a growing number of studies continue to validate the connection between healthy levels of Vitamin D3 and a strong immune system, a group of Danish scientists believe they could have pinpointed the specific reasons why this is so crucial to the human immunodefence system. The researchers assert their findings could be beneficial in protecting against new global epidemics and infectious diseases and might even assist in the development of new vaccines.

The research found that cells called “T-Cells”, which can be crucial to immune defense, are determined by the presence of Vitamin D in the bloodstream to be able to operate properly, and lay dormant oblivious of the existence of a potential threat when there are insufficient quantities of vitamin D at the blood. When sun exposure isn’t a feasible option, vitamin D supplements would be the best way to go. However, it’s important to observe which form of vitamin D is included within a given supplement. Numerous studies have demonstrated that the kind of vitamin D called D3, or cholecalciferol, is far superior to vitamin D2, the plant-based form called ergocalciferol.

A recent report also “meta analysis” by Dr. John Cannell, MD, concluded that vitamin D3 provides three times the efficacy of D2 concerning each individual nutrient’s ability to stop and/or reverse vitamin D deficiency syndrome, and thus improve the immune system, protecting one from the myriad ailments listed above.
